As part of Omni Hotels ongoing efforts to improve the accessibility and usability of their website, I was given the responsibility to implement solutions to non-compliant elements and components discovered during one of their accessibility audits.

An example of one of the more complicated solutions I was asked to provide was to implement a custom, keyboard accessible select list used to filter images for their photo gallery widget.

I’ve also coded a fully accessible hero that allows the client to select a slider or a video to occupy the space.

Although I worked on several of their UI components, here are a couple that are worth pointing out.

I was tasked with programming the Program Finder widget as well as styling the UI as seen on the home page hero. Users are able to select/deselect as many areas of study and degree levels as they wish. With each button click, the JavaScript builds the query string which is then used to filter the available programs for the prospect on the /program-finder page.

I was also tasked with styling the UI for their Application Form. This is a very long form which was built using Form.io and was integrated into WordPress as a plugin. Another developer implemented most of the React development, but I implemented the react-circular-progressbar which helps inform the user how far they’ve progressed through the form.

Donation Widget

This redesign included replacing a slider hero with a static hero and integrating FlipCause into a donation widget that slides in from the right 2 seconds after the page loads. If the user dismisses the widget by clicking the close button, a sessionStorage object is used to hide the widget unless the Donate button is clicked.

Latest Events Widget

Because they use Elementor to build their pages, I programmed a shortcode that I could include in a block on the page to render their upcoming events.

Three events can be displayed at one time in the row. If there are more than 3 events to display, a Swiper slider is initialized with prev/next arrows.

A registration button will only render if a registration link is provided for the event

Latest Blog Post

I also programmed a shortcode to display the latest post from their blog. However, if the blog doesn’t include a featured image, a custom excerpt, or if there are more than 125 words, then only a link to the post will be rendered on the page.

Refreshed the main navigation and footer for the site as well as implemented the new design for the home page including configuring and styling the Essential Grid which powers the Resources section.

In the Great Smoky Mountains, Blackberry Farm and Blackberry Mountain are using an online platform to facilitate booking for their luxury hotels and resorts.

My role was to provide the UI/UX for the booking bar and calendar components and to implement responsive design for smaller devices.

Providing UI solutions to pre-existing components used throughout the booking flow was also part of my scope of responsibility.

This is a fully customized WordPress site which utilizes 4 custom post types – Case Studies, Components, News, and Solutions for simple content creation. It also features a hand-built mega menu with breadcrumbs, sliders, YouTube videos, tabbed content and contact forms.

Custom page templates and 16 flexible page layouts utilizing the power of Advanced Custom Fields allow the client freedom to present their content wherever and in any order they desire with drag-and-drop simplicity. They also have access to global callout components via ACF Options pages allowing them to easily effect changes site-wide.

magicJack for BUSINESS provides affordable VoIP plans to small and medium sized businesses.

My skills are an integral part of several projects implemented for mJB including a marketing website powered by Jekyll, the buy flow, an instant quote website, a complex user portal and a desktop app all powered by React as well as a Salesforce integration and Salesforce help pages.

Consolidating all of the companies various emails into a single framework to allow for quicker development times, consistency and compatibility across email clients is a project that I led for the company.

This project consisted of two components. A marketing site built on top of Jekyll and a React powered user portal.

Designing the complex user interaction of the user portal proved challenging due to the amount of information that was necessary to be made available to users at all screen sizes.

This custom WordPress site consists of a custom theme with custom post types and implementation of Advanced Custom Fields.

This site features a portfolio component that can be filtered according to type and when clicked invokes a modal consisting of a slide component to allow users to browse through all of the company’s developments.

The leadership page has a similar component to allow users to browse through the leadership bios.

This custom WordPress site is all about images. CA South has an immense portfolio of beautiful projects that they want to show off with full page imagery.

The challenge was to implement the UI according to the UX designers specifications.

The featured projects page allows users to filter projects by type. When clicked, a gallery is displayed allowing the user to choose a gallery to browse. While browsing the selected gallery, the user can then choose to browse other galleries. This was accomplished by using nested galleries, a gallery of galleries by utilizing the jQuery Cycle 2 slider plugin.

CA South also wanted to use a gallery to show off their employees with the ability to dynamically filter them. This was accomplished with Metafizzy’s Isotope.
